A Season for Everything

One big lesson that I have learned this year is that God has his own timing and plan for us. I tend to over analyze every little detail of situations in my life, usually this over analyzing takes place when I’m trying to fall asleep and hundreds of scenarios play out in my mind. on average I typically will spend close to an hour every night just thinking about everything, some situations more than others. A lot of the scenarios are “what if?” ones; like what if I did this today or choose to do that tomorrow? How will that affect my situation. By thinking in terms of “what if?” I tend to worry about the situation at hand even more. I realized that I have been spending way to much time thinking and trying to take matters into my own hands as opposed to trying to let God’s plan take course. I came across this verse that really gave me some assurance that I have nothing to worry about. “And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” (Romans 8:28) This verse just really let me know that as long as I’m pursuing my relationship with Christ that he will take care of everything.

Someone once told me that God has a purpose in what He does even if we have a hard time understanding what that purpose is. Boy that can be true but also pretty comforting. Jesus has a plan for us all mapped out and know what’s best for us. It’s like having a curfew or having to go to bed early because you have school in the morning. I always thought that I didn’t need that extra hour or two of sleep, but my parents knew best and were always trying to look out for. Jesus is doing the same thing, something might not be going how you planned but that’s just because He has a better plan for you and it might take awhile fur us to realize that. “He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end.” (Eccl 3:11) God’s time is the only time that we should worry about because He has a season for everything.

“There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under heaven:
a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain,
a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.”

Eccl. 3:1-8
